A federal grand jury has indicted Peter Navarro, former President Donald Trump's trade adviser, on two counts of contempt of Congress after he failed to comply with a subpoena from the Jan. 6 committee.

Navarro, former President Donald Trump's trade adviser, had refused to appear for a deposition and to produce documents for the committee investigating the siege of the Capitol that was intended to stop Congress from certifying the results of the 2020 election. Two sources told NPR on Friday that the Justice Department would not prosecute former Trump White House aide Dan Scavino and former chief of staff Mark Meadows. Legal experts said such a case would be difficult given that both had partially cooperated and worked much more closely with Trump.
