The 911 caller was the wife of the 64-year-old suspect Robert Ramos. She said he had been drinking all day. According to Fort Worth Police Chief Neil Noakes, the responding officer across the street talked to Ramos for more than 20 minutes. On March 14, officers responded to a 911 call from a woman who said her husband was suicidal and was threatening her with a gun.
"Quite frankly, I don’t know if anyone from the CIT could have done any better," the chief said. "And this officer has been trained and certified as a mental health peace officer as well."
