Four BMW X5s Might Be Missing A Bolt On The Driver's Seat | Carscoops carscoops
A recall notice issued through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration reveals that impacted vehicles have driver’s seats where one of the four bolts connecting the backrest to the seat frame may not have been installed according to specifications. Consequently, the seat backrest may not be fully locked and in the event of a crash, this could increase the risk of injury to the driver.
BMW became aware of the issue on December 7, 2022 after the seat supplier noticed that a seat had not been properly assembled. The supplier informed BMW that some faulty driver seats may have been delivered to the automaker’s vehicle assembly plant and installed in vehicles.
