Three women and a man were shot and injured at an apartment complex Wednesday night in Texas City, according to police.
One of the women was critically injured and rushed into surgery after being driven to a hospital, according to the Texas City Police Department. The other three people were found injured at the Savan Villa Apartments, 8601 Emmett F. Lowry Expressway, Texas City police spokesman Sgt. Allen Bjerke said.MORE ON HOUSTONCHRONICLE.COM:Police were still trying to piece together what led up to the shooting and how the victims were connected, Bjerke said. The shooting was reported at 6:25 p.m.
When police arrived, they found evidence of gunfire from a handgun and shotgun both inside and outside an apartment at the complex, he said. There were two children in the apartment at the time of the shooting. Both were unharmed, Bjerke said. While investigating, police learned of a woman who had been driven to HCA Houston Healthcare Mainland Hospital in Texas City with a gunshot wound to her back. Police were able to connect her injury to the apartment shooting, Bjerke said. A man who was with the woman at the hospital was taken into custody for questioning, he said.No arrests have been announced.
