Galveston ISD parents, board members blast superintendent over 'chauvinistic' comments

“But then I thought, no not even that, because my grandfather would not even say something like that,” said Guillot-Wright. “It was incredibly offensive, not only to all women and girls globally, but specifically to the women who have done so much amazing work in the school district.”Board President Anthony Brown decried Gibson’s statement Thursday.
“I have seen other examples of that from the superintendent since I was elected to the board in late 2021,” she said. “He has disrespected me ever since I was elected and at first I didn't understand why. Over the course of time, I came to believe an element of it was gender-related.”“There are really problems that are more serious than the way he’s treated me,” Beeton added. “I don't know what his future is here, but I don't think his performance has been satisfactory.
“Galveston ISD supports all of its public school children, regardless of gender, race or ethnicity,” she said. “That is the strongest principle every member of the board believes passionately.”“Something should be done,” the mother said. “I would be happy to see the board take action on this.”
