We discuss upcoming game Silent Hope with developers Makoto Shioda and Honoka Moriwaki, covering characters, action, and communication with no speech.
Silent Hope is due out in October, and one of its biggest selling points is its unique premise. Playing as seven different heroes in a world with no voices, there's a difficult balance between the intrigue of its unique audio setup and creating compelling characters.
Makoto Shioda: Initially, the plan was to expand the world of Rune Factory. But there's no point in making a very similar game to Rune Factory, so this time we put emphasis on the action side and growth of the characters. Having said that, it's not just for Rune Factory fans, of course. It's with utmost confidence that this can be enjoyed by people with no experience in Rune Factory.
And in terms of the game's different fighters, what made seven the right number? How will players get to know these characters over the course of the game? That's really beautiful. Is there anything you think will especially surprise players about this game?
