It sure doesn’t look like Sean Payton is doing the opposite of what Nathaniel Hackett did last year in Denver. In fact, his team looks worse.
The Jets went into Denver on Sunday and won for Hack. He got the game ball in a 31-21 win and the team rallied around their offensive coordinator in the locker room after the game. The Jets needed to win this game Sunday to get to 2-3 and keep themselves in the playoff conversation. They did just that.
It was the Hall and Hall show. Mostly Breece, who ran for 177 yards, including a 72-yard TD run. But Bryce closed it out with a fumble recovery for a touchdown to seal the victory, doing an admirable job filling in for DJ Reed at cornerback. It was a sloppy victory, but a win is a win. The Eagles come to MetLife Stadium on Sunday before the Jets enter the bye week, so this was a big one to secure. The Jets did not play their best game, but the Broncos were flat-out terrible. They had a few big plays, but the play-calling was terrible and they could not stop the run.
AVT: Alijah Vera-Tucker is going to miss the rest of the season and Max Mitchell will have to fill in for him. The next few weeks will be telling as the trade deadline approaches. Joe Douglas may have to see if there is an offensive lineman out there to trade for. THE ROAD AHEAD: The Jets return home next week, but they have to face the defending NFC Champion Eagles. This will not be easy, but maybe the 5-0 Eagles are due for their first loss. The Jets will have to hope to just make it a competitive game and keep the positive mojo going into the bye, when the schedule eases up a bit after that.The bidder to watch for College Football Playoff rights
