A Garfield Heights man, 19, led police on a high-speed vehicle chase that ended in a crash at about 2:45 a.m. Sept. 15 starting outside a Shell station.
BROOK PARK, Ohio – A Garfield Heights man, 19, led police on a high-speed vehicle chase that ended in a crash at about 2:45 a.m. Sept. 15 starting outside Shell, 13030 Brookpark Park.
The Garfield Heights man sped away. He turned off his headlights and took Interstate 71 southbound to Interstate 480 westbound. He exited at Grayton Road, then hopped onto I-480 eastbound. His speed during the chase exceeded 130 mph. As police investigated, a car arrived. A 19-year-old woman stepped out and asked police if she could retrieve her phone from the crashed car. She said she was in the car’s passenger seat during the chase.
