Jones sat on Garland's youth council and ran for its school board twice. Now he’ll host a primetime show on the country’s largest cable news network.

In 2012 when he was 19, he ran for Garland ISD school board as a freshman at the University of North Texas, where he studied criminal justice. After his first unsuccessful campaign, he ran again in 2014 and lost.
