Gen V continues The Boys' premiere tradition.

SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY SCROLL TO CONTINUE WITH CONTENT Summary Gen V's premiere left a lasting impression with big shocks and plenty of gore, continuing one tradition that The Boys has followed for all three seasons so far. Establishing a new show in the controversial world of The Boys was always going to be a difficult task given the show's reputation, yet Gen V seamlessly managed to do this by following in the footsteps of the main show.

While the University setting may have seemed like something a little bit tamer, Gen V has exceeded expectations and rivals the main show with its shock factor. If its bloody opening wasn't enough to suggest it could hold its own in The Boys universe, its even bloodier ending certainly was. A Gen V season 2 renewal may not be far away if the series continues living up to the hype, especially as the show made the bold move of killing off one major character in its very first episode.

What creates the comparison to The Boys isn't the surprise death itself, but the fact that his guts wind up splattered on everyone around him. Marie and Andre are showered in blood and guts as Golden Boy explodes. This follows the same trend as all three seasons of The Boys. In season 1, Hughie is covered in Robin's guts after A-Train kills her. Hughie is involved once again in season 2 when he and MM are in proximity of Raynor when her head explodes.

Golden Boy's Bloody Death Confirms Gen V Is Just As Gross As The Boys Golden Boy's death proves Gen V can be just as disgusting as the show that spawned it. Outside the particularly gory premieres, The Boys has also had many more graphic moments throughout its run. Herogasm stands out, not just through the sexual acts depicted, but A-Train kills Blue Hawk in stomach-churning fashion in this episode.
