A Tokyo court gives prison sentences to two Americans who helped former Nissan chief Carlos Ghosn escape Japan
TOKYO—A Tokyo court on Monday sentenced American Michael Taylor to two years in prison for his role in helping former Nissan Motor Co. chief Carlos Ghosn escape Japan.Michael Taylor, a 60-year-old former Green Beret, and Peter Taylor, 28,last month to the charge of aiding the escape of a criminal for their roles in Mr. Ghosn’s flight in late December 2019.
Prosecutors sought a sentence of two years and 10 months for Michael Taylor, who guided Mr. Ghosn to the private jet and accompanied him out of Japan. They sought two years and six months for Peter Taylor, who departed Japan separately. The maximum sentence for the charge is three years.
