A 6-year-old girl was killed Sunday evening on an amusement park ride in Colorado, officials said.
The Garfield County Coroner's Office was dispatched to the Haunted Mine Drop ride at Glenwood Caverns Adventure Park in Glenwood Springs around 7:45 p.m. in response to a report that a child had been fatally injured on the ride, Coroner Robert M. Glassmire said in a statement.
The girl, who was from Colorado Springs, was on vacation with her family. Her identity has not been released, and it was unclear how she was injured.The park posted a statement on Facebook saying that an incident on the Haunted Mine Drop ride had resulted in a death and that the park would be closed Monday and Tuesday.
Glassmire said the sheriff's office and the coroner's office are investigating. An autopsy is scheduled for this week.
