A report detailed allegations of harassment in the National Women's Soccer League.
“I’ve not read the entirety of the report, but I’ve read enough of it,” Murphy said after an unrelated event in Hoboken when asked aboutinto the National Women’s Soccer League. “And it’s disgusting, completely reprehensible and completely unacceptable.”
He added that the league is conducting its own investigation and thus, “I’m not gonna, at the moment, talk about any of the specifics.”Gov. Murphy’s soccer team ensnared in scathing report on NWSL abuse scandal The report notes that Holly’s time with Sky Blue was “plagued with complaints of verbal abuse and mistreatment,” including being “paranoid, ultraaggressive, short-tempered, nasty, mean, patronizing, humiliating ... angry, disorganized, erratic ... and abrasive on the sidelines.”
Holly was later hired by the U.S. national women’s soccer team in 2018 and then by Racing Louisville as head coach in 2020. At Louisville, the report said, he “repeated the same pattern of misconduct,” including “verbal and emotional abuse of players and a relationship with a staff member that caused problems.”
“We are confident that their courage, and the future publication of the independent NWSL/NWSLPA joint investigation, will usher in player-focused reforms that will continue to enhance the safety, well-being, and success of our players and employees,” the team added. “Club leadership is committed to working with the NWSL and remains a strong advocate for those reforms.
