Sophomore Ray Harrison scored 21 points and Grand Canyon took control of a tight game late in the second half to beat Wyoming, 66-58, in a key non-conference road game for the Antelopes.
Tied at 50 with under nine minutes remaining, Josh Baker found a diving Yvan Ouedraogo off a dribble drive for a big dunk, giving GCU a two-point lead and energy to build on it.
Ouedraogo stole the ball on a loose ball at midcourt with 2:17 left and GCU up, 61-52. A pass to Chance McMillan led to a 2-on-2 break. McMillan fed Harrison for a contested layup, who finished after being fouled by Wyoming's Hunter Maldonado. Harrison connected on the free throw to give GCU a commanding 12-point lead with 2:11 left.Harrison, seeing extra action with leading scorer Jovan Blacksher Jr.
Jake Kyman finished with 16 points and six rebounds for the Cowboys . Hunter Maldonado added 12 points, four assists and two steals. Gabe McGlotchan added 14 points and 5 rebounds with Baker chipping in for 11 points, 4 rebounds and 4 assists. The game was the Lopes' first true road game in 21 days, and only the second time this season. It was GCU's last time leaving Phoenix for the rest of the year.
