Guardians' Andres Gimenez and Bo Naylor start pool play with their respective countries in the WBC this weekend.
Naylor, like his older brother Josh, has played for Team Canada as an amateur. He’s a professional now, but the feeling is the same.
“Any chance you get to put on a jersey with your country’s name on it, it’s special,” said Naylor. “I’ve always treated it as an honor.” Gimenez committed to playing for Venezuela late last season. He asked the Guardians if it was all right for him to switch from second base to shortstop, his natural position, for the WBC because Jose Altuve was going to play second base for Venezuela.
