Ramirez will serve the suspension Saturday and Sunday against the Rays. The Guardians will play with a 25-man roster on Saturday.
The exchange touched off a 14-minute brawl. The result saw suspensions handed out to Ramirez , manager Terry Francona , closer Emmanuel Clase and third base coach . On Chicago’s side manager Pedro Grifol and Anderson were suspended.
Ramirez, after the fight, issued an apology to Anderson and his Cleveland teammates during an interview on a Dominican Republic TV station. The seeds of the fight started when the Guardians and White Sox played a four-game series at Guaranteed Field at the end of July. Anderson, according Arias, was needling him throughout the series.
