Aaron Judge came back to life with a monstrous 2-run home run, but the Guardians made sure it didn't do the same to the Yankees.

McKenzie, coming off a brilliant outing against Tampa Bay in last week’s wild card clincher, allowed 25 home runs during the regular season, tied for ninth-most in the AL. Manager Terry Francona said he thought the right-hander threw the ball well early.

Cleveland, which had chances to knock Yankees starter Luis Severino out of the game in the first two innings, never recovered, After allowing a pair of runs on six hits through two, Severino settled in and retired 13 of the final 14 batters he faced. Judge was ahead in the count, 2-1, after laying off a curveball and a slider from McKenzie. The right-hander’s fourth pitch was a 94 mph fastball over the heart of the plate that Judge launched to dead center, clearing the camera stands beyond the outfield wall. The ball traveled 113.7 mph off the bat according to StatCast.
