Progressive Democrats have been ardent supporters of transgender competition in women's sports.

Rep. Harriet Hageman, R-Wyo., in an interview with The National Desk Friday blasted a left-wing lawmaker who broke down in tears over her women's sports bill.cosponsored by Rep. Hageman restricting biological men from competing against biological women in Olympic and amateur sports. Though the bill makes no mention of transgender athletes, Rep. Pramila Jayapal, D-Wash., became emotional when discussing its implications on her transgender daughter.

“I am the proud mother of a trans daughter,” Rep. Jayapal said. “Every time these bills come up I ask you to think about what it would be like if your daughter was the one that you were talking about.”I understand that she has some emotional reaction related to her child, but one of the things that we're taught from the beginning is that this isn't about us individually, and that you need to avoid having that kind of a personal reaction to a bill or a statement or a policy,” Rep.

“All I'm trying to do is protect women and girls in sports,” Rep. Hageman added. “I'm not attacking transgenders. I'm not attacking anyone. I am only trying to protect women and girls in sports. And you would have thought that it was World War III in there for three solid hours.” Other Democrats speaking out against the measure included Rep. Jerrold Nadler, D-N.Y. and Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee, D-Texas. Their comments, Rep. Hageman said, were reminiscent of communist leaders.

We know throughout history, dictators and tyrants have used language to manipulate people,” she said. “They used words and they used theories and concepts to control the masses. And that's really what we're dealing with here. That's why I refuse to use their terminology.”Jackson Walker on X at @_jlwalker_ for the latest trending national news. Have a news tip?
