Haiti gang leader threatens to kill the kidnapped American missionaries amid the ransom negotiations

The leader of the Haitian gang that kidnapped a group of 17 American and Canadian missionaries last weekend escalated the negotiations for their release Thursday with a video threatening to kill them, according to thePort-au-Prince, on October 21, 2021, to protest against fuel shortages.

The gang earlier this week requested $17 million from Christian Aid Ministry, the U.S.-based organization whose members were captured over the weekend. they are in the midst of negotiations with 400 Mawozo, but don’t want to hand over any ransom. The U.S. “doesn’t’ negotiate with terrorists,” White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki said at a Tuesday press briefing. It’s unclear what social media platform the video was posted to and whether it is still active.
