Hallelujah! Fleabag's “Hot Priest” has an exciting new role:
, a television adaptation of Philip Pullman’s eponymous fantasy trilogy. The series, which premieres later this year, is an HBO and BBC co-production, boasting a stacked cast of talent from both sides of the Atlantic: James McAvoy, Ruth Wilson, and Lin-Manuel Miranda are all attached, as well.
Scott will play Colonel John Parry—father of the 12-year-old Will Parry —who, as Deadline helpfully explains, “accidentally traveled to Lyra’s world where he became a renowned scholar and shaman. His dæmon was called Sayan Kötör and had the form of an osprey.” How magical, how mysterious! While a release date for the sophomore season has yet to be announced, never fear: Scott can also be seen alongside Colin Firth and Benedict Cumberbatch in the sprawling World War I drama
