Hallmark apologizes and reverses its decision to ban a Zola ad featuring a same-sex couple:

: After backlash from LGBTQ groups and calls to boycott the network, the owner of the Hallmark channel apologized Sunday night for removing an ad because it featured two brides kissing, saying the network would reinstate the commercials from wedding-planning startup Zola.

In a statement, Hallmark Cards CEO Mike Perry said the company has been “agonizing” over the decision to pull the ad “as we’ve seen the hurt it has unintentionally caused” and apologized. “Said simply, they believe this was the wrong decision. Our mission is rooted in helping all people connect, celebrate traditions, and be inspired to capture meaningful moments in their lives. Anything that detracts from this purpose is not who we are. We are truly sorry for the hurt and disappointment this has caused,” he added.

The company said it would also reach out to Zola and reinstate the commercials. Zola had said it would stop advertising on the Hallmark channel altogether.that the company will be in touch with Hallmark to discuss potentially advertising with the network again."We were deeply troubled when Hallmark rejected our commercials for featuring a lesbian couple celebrating their marriage, and are relieved to see that decision was reversed.
