"af94 is inspired by the kids who show up to my tour dates in my makeup but have to wipe it off before their parents pick them up," Halsey tellsHalsey remembers being that kid once upon a time. Essentially, af94 is a manifestation of the singer's nostalgia.
Not to mention, during the 90s, while millennials shared the same enthusiasm for makeup, skincare wasn't as big of a deal. Back then, zits were almost a fashion statement.
