In a new interview, Harrison Ford teases the next Indiana Jones film and shares his no-BS life philosophy.

James Mangold.When asked why he’s venturing into the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Thunderbolt Ross, a role previously played by the, Ford quips: “I don’t know. I can’t explain myself to myself. I just work here,” adding, “I watch all these terrific actors having a good time [in Marvel movies]. I like doing something different to what I’ve ever done and pleasing people with it. These frills-free philosophies also extend to Ford’s personal life. When probed about his perceived shyness at events and in interviews, he replies, “I don’t have a social anxiety disorder. I have an abhorrence of.” At the start of his career, Ford says, “I wasn’t shy, I was fucking terrified. My knees would shake so badly, you could see it from the back of the theater. But that’s not social anxiety. That’s being unfamiliar with the territory.

As for what Ford hopes will be written on his tombstone? “I wouldn’t want it to be ‘Harrison Ford, blah-blah-blah, actor,’” he says. “I’d settle for ‘Was Useful.’” The short phrasing is fitting, Ford adds, because “there’s not a lot of space on a tombstone.”
