While speaking exclusively with Screen Rant at San Diego Comic-Con 2023, Justin Simien reflected on making the upcoming Haunted Mansion reboot. When asked about his favorite ghost from the eponymous location, the director pointed towards that of the Mariner Ghost, taking a deeper look at the artistic nature behind the spirit and how it better fits the themes for one of the movie's human characters.
The Various Ghosts Confirmed For The Haunted Mansion Reboot Though the marketing has largely focused on the humorous dynamics across its human characters, the Haunted Mansion trailers have spotlighted a number of iconic elements being brought from the Disneyland ride to the big screen. Much like the Eddie Murphy-led movie, writer Katie Dippold looks to have narrowed down the main antagonist to Jared Leto's Hatbox Ghost, who holds some control over the mansion's powers.
