A flash flood emergency warning was in place late Wednesday for residents of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., and the surrounding areas.
the flash flood emergency would stay in place at least until 11 p.m. for areas near Hollywood, Dania Beach and Fort Lauderdale. The affected parts of the state are home to more than a quarter-million people.
“This is a life threatening situation,” it said on Twitter.Fort Lauderdale Airport is closed this evening due to extensive flooding, especially on the roadways entering and exiting the airport. This latest round of storms isn’t going to help.
