Herb Meyer, the winningest football coach in the history of the CIF San Diego Section, has died. He was 87.
At the time he retired, Meyer was the winningest football coach in the history of the state of California. In 2010, the Southern California Football Coaches Association renamed its Distinguished Service Award after Meyer. Carroll’s Oceanside teams played Meyer’s El Camino squads 16 times.
