Investigators did not immediately disclose a motive but identified the assailant as Salvador Ramos, a resident of the community about 85 miles west of San Antonio.Texas state senators on Wednesday said a law enforcement briefing revealed details about the weapons used in the school attack that killed 19 children and two teachers.
They say Salvador Ramos legally acquired two AR-style rifles days after his 18th birthday. He bought one rifle from a federally-licensed gun dealer in the Uvalde area on May 17, according to a state police briefing to Sen. John Whitmire. The next day, he bought 375 rounds of ammunition, and bought a second rifle on May 20. Officers recovered one of the rifles from Ramos’ truck and a backpack with ammunition near the school entrance.
