However, a 97-yard kickoff return for a touchdown by Ty Webb on the opening kickoff of the second half put Churchill ahead 17-0 and gave the Chargers all the momentum they’d need. Noah Medellin scored on a 3-yard run to get the Volunteers back to within 17-7 midway through the third quarter, but a pair of touchdown runs by Harold Releford sandwiched around an onside kick made it 31-7 Churchill late in the period. The Chargers cruised from there.
