Hundreds of thousands take to the streets of Hong Kong in the biggest antigovernment protest in months
HONG KONG—Hundreds of thousands of antigovernment protesters rallied on Sunday as a movement that began six months ago shows no signs of waning, with pro-democracy demonstrators and the Beijing-backed Hong Kong government offering no hint of compromise.
The peaceful rally was the city’s biggest demonstration in months, drawing 800,000 participants, according to an estimate by protest organizer Civil Human Rights Front. Hong Kong police provided an estimate of 183,000 at the march’s peak.
