The trial of former Ohio House Speaker Larry Householder and ex-Ohio Republican Party Chairman Matt Borges resumes Tuesday.

AFL-CIO received $1.4 million from the pro-Householder dark money group Generation Now and Longstreth to support House Bill 6 against a ballot initiative to block the law in 2019.AFL-CIO sent mailers that read:"House Bill 6 saves thousands of good-paying union jobs, invests in our schools, and protects our environment!"

Householder's attorney recently sent a subpoena to require Burga to testify in the federal trial. But Burga's attorney Steven Nolder asked Judge Black to quash that subpoena, saying that his client had no knowledge of any quid pro quo and could only speak to the benefits of House Bill 6.USA TODAY Network Ohio bureau reporters Jessie Balmert and Laura Bischoff have been following the House Bill 6 scandal since the story broke.
