A Houston nonprofit has released a poll that indicates a majority of local voters do not approve of the state's takeover of Houston ISD.

Elizabeth Santos, the trustee elected to represent District 1 before she lost her powers due to the takeover, wiped away tears as Rodriguez spoke. Protesters then marched into the Hattie Mae White Educational Support Center, chanting"Hey, hey, ho ho, the TEA has got to go," as the board meeting was getting set to begin.
