were ordered to pay more than $7 million to the U.S. government Monday to settle false claims submitted for unnecessary medications, including compounding creams, gels and pain patches.
The investigation by the U.S. Department of Labor Office of Inspector General and U.S. Postal Service Office of Inspector General determined injured federal employees who were beneficiaries of the DOL-OWCP were"receiving excessive and unnecessary medication through the U.S. mail," the release read. Medley employees were allegedly told to auto-fill medications on a monthly basis and to use pre-printed prescription pads to submit the prescriptions to DOL-OWCP despite the lack of patients' medical needs.
