Death of cellmate of Houston convicted serial killer Ramon Escobar under investigation
Ramon Escobar, 51, is serving consecutive life sentences for killing his aunt and uncle in August 2018. He is a convicted serial killer, with other murders in the state of California. Escobar's roommate, Juan Villanueva, was found unresponsive in their cell Friday and was pronounced dead. While police were investigating her disappearance, Escobar said that he hid under a pile of clothes in his aunt’s van and tried to strangle her from behind with a baton. As they struggled to the ground, he pressed his knee to her chest until she stopped breathing.
