Houston weather: A mild Tuesday, but watch out if heading out to Galveston beaches for spring break
With temperatures forecasted to dip into the 40s and 50s later this week, Tuesday and Wednesday might be the last chance, for now, for spring breakers to enjoy some sun in Galveston or Bolivar Peninsula. If you do head to the coast, mind the water because of a high risk of rip currents.
The National Weather Service on Monday issued warnings saying that swimming in the Gulf of Mexico could be dangerous because of swift moving currents near jetties and piers. Before you head to the beach,It will be cool and cloudy, with lows in the 40s north of Houston and in the 50s near the coast. Isolated showers are possible in southern parts of the Houston region.
The weather service issued advisories on Monday, warning that wind gusts and high seas could pose a threat to small boats in the Gulf of Mexico and in Galveston Bay. There was also a high rip current risk on Galveston and Bolivar Peninsula beaches. Hope everyone is enjoying spring break! Highs should rise into the mid to upper 70s during the first half of this week. Showers and storms develop Thursday night/Friday morning with the passage of a cold front. Expect cooler conditions this weekend.
