Adults who can recall many instances of feeling unwanted or unloved during childhood have higher odds of lifetime depression, according to new research. ArashEmamzadeh explains why.

Victims of childhood abuse see themselves as defective and irreparably damaged, which is why they feel ashamed of who they are and tend to engage in self-blame.
