With Lake Powell water levels falling, expensive modifications are being considered to keep the 60-year-old Arizona dam generating power.
Tony Davis The U.S. Bureau of Reclamation is studying several options for Glen Canyon Dam to maintain its power production at lower Lake Powell water levels. The modifications are aimed at keeping electricity flowing from the dam when Powell drops below its minimum power generating level of 3,490 feet.
