State lawmakers are already vowing to help Abbott accomplish expanded school choice.
“A primary concern with Education Savings Accounts is that they divert limited state resources away from local educational agencies that need more funding, not less, to cope with the growth of the special education population in Texas,” Disability Rights Texas officials said in their statement in November to the TEA, arguing that taking special education dollars away from school districts jeopardizes opportunities for those with disabilities.
“Parents are angry today about social agendas being pushed on our kids in our schools in Texas and that is unacceptable,” Abbott said. “Schools are for education, not indoctrination.”
