The spirit of HIMYM is alive and well in new images from HowIMetYourFather, which find Hilary Duff and her lovestruck friends getting silly.
New images from Hulu's upcoming How I Met Your Father connect the series to its predecessor, How I Met Your Mother, with some silly hijinks. Whereas the beloved CBS sitcom followed Ted Mosby and his friends as they navigated romantic and professional obstacles in early aughts New York City, its long-awaited spin-off show will offer a gender swap by focusing on Hilary Duff's Sophie.
Much like how Bob Saget served as the voice for an older Ted's stories, Kim Cattrall is on board as Sophie's future self. How I Met Your Father finds Sophie recounting the long-winded tale of how she met the father of her children. The 2022-set stories will find Sophie and her friends embarking on journeys of self-discovery and love in the age of dating apps. How I Met Your Father also stars Chris Lowell, Francia Raisa, Tom Ainsley, Tien Tran, and Suraj Sharma.
As the second image makes perfectly clear, How I Met Your Father kicks off with Sophie turning 30. Though she might be entering a new stage of her life, her friends still seem perfectly content to engage in some silly antics, and watching whatever's going on in the above picture come to life in the series premiere will likely be pretty funny.
The controversial ending to How I Met Your Mother has been debated at length for years, but there is still plenty of affection for the series to be found. As a result, there are plenty reasons to be excited for this spin-off. Though it will center on new characters, How I Met Your Father looks to be retaining the elements that made fans love the original show so much. This could become the next buzzy comedy, provided all of its episodes stick the landing.
