Many track and field athletes have been preparing for the Games for months, if not years.
“I think postponing is likely the best option for athlete safety, however, it does depend on the timeline it’s being postponed for. There are a lot of downstream effects and other competing events that will be moved, questions about new or expired qualifying windows, and a lot of other information yet to be decided that makes it hard to judge without knowing.
“I’m coping well and trying to find the joy in training and doing it safely, doing it alone and doing the best I can.”“I won’t be doing anything special. I’m just trying to just go to the forest by myself and just do like maybe 10 miles, just to maintain fitness, you know, doing nothing special, just don’t lose anything. So it’s all about maintaining now because there’s nothing on the horizon, no race coming up.
