Simu Liu revealed he nearly took a different career path as an accountant to please his parents.
Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings“Before I decided to act professionally, the biggest obstacle was realizing that I could give myself permission to want a different version of success. Growing up with my parents and my family, our idea of success was pretty rigid and fairly traditional, and that’s what led me to pursue a career initially in finance and accounting,” said Liu on the red carpet at the Unforgettable Gala in Beverly Hills on Saturday evening.
“People are very vocal about how much they love the movie, and that’s absolutely fantastic,” he said. “It’s like having a global spotlight on all of the Asian community. It’s elevated our lives. It’s given us incredible opportunities and also thrust us into a spotlight, and sometimes it’s tough, and it’s hard, but it’s all part of the ride of a lifetime.”
