The university in Boca Raton, Fla., didn’t exist before 1964. It started a basketball team in 1988 and didn’t join Division I until 1993. Coach Dusty May agreed to take over in 2018 without ever seeing the basketball facilities—and panicked slightly when he did. On Thursday, he stopped just short of characterizing his impulse decision to accept the FAU job as “buyer’s remorse.”
