How to find a meaningful career:
Moore:had opened up enough doors and done well enough that I knew I could take a leap. The stories that the book tried to unearth, really came down to where that other motivation served. How do we address this issue where people are living in lands of disparity—to no fault of their own—and find themselves having to constantly run twice the speed just to keep up? And how functionally unfair that is, and how complicated that ends up being, for all of our society.
I saw the opportunity that Robin Hood had in front of them. Forty-two percent of households in New York over the past three years have experienced poverty. If you’re African American, the number is 50%. If you’re Latino, the number is 56%. These are things that should eat at every single one of us--the fact that we have so many people with such few opportunities. Even those who are able to get out of poverty, the chances of them falling right back into it is remarkably high.
