, if only because the Pac-12 still had Oregon and Washington. It appears I may have spoken too soon. About Oregon and Washington, that is. In my defense, these things change by the hour.
Could the shakeout finally give SMU a shot at stepping up in conferences? Could TCU provide the Big Ten a footprint in Texas? Will it be a winner-take-all between the Pac-12 and Big 12?Do you think he wishes he was back at MGM Resorts? The Big 12 may or may not be interested in Colorado, Arizona State and Arizona. Frankly, if Colorado really has a shot at the Big Ten, it should consider changing time zones to make it happen. Besides, from a Big 12 perspective, been there, done that.
Adding Phoenix would give the Big 12 three of the dozen largest media markets. Same as the SEC; one behind the Big Ten. Not only would it provide the Big 12 more leverage in the next round of TV talks, it might shore up the league’s position as a distant third behind the two superconferences. But if the Big Ten poaches a Big 12 team, isn’t Kansas a better fit? National alumni base, Association of American Universities standing and a storied basketball history, not that the last item means much in realignment.
