A huge explosion ripped through a factory in northwest Houston in the early hours of Friday, shaking nearby homes and waking residents of the Texan city.
Houston Police Department said the blast took place at a machining and grinding factory located at 4500 Gessner Road. The owner of the buildingThe explosion took place at around 4:25 a.m.
and shattered windows, doors and nearby structures, local news reports. Video shared on social media and from local TV stations appears to show fires still raging at the plant.Surrounding streets have been blocked off in the area including Genard Road, Stefani Road and Clay Road, Houston Fire Department tweeted.
