Jeannette Robinson, 75, has been cleaning hospital wards since she joined the NHS in 1972.
An NHS worker is preparing to hang up her mop after dedicating more than 50 years to keeping hospitals clean.
"It's the best job I've ever done. I just love it," she said, adding that she was only retiring after making a promise to her husband."People don't realise what housekeepers do, but you're not just a housekeeper; you are part of a ward. The sister's right hand, you're everyone's right hand," said Mrs Robinson.
During her career she has carried out duties including cleaning, serving food to patients and collecting dirty mops from wards. She currently works supporting staff and patients requiring orthopaedic procedures.
