The follow-up series of The Full Monty is just an example of what's heading to Hulu as part of the June 12-18 schedule.
series. Directed by Peter Cattaneo from a script penned by Simon Beaufoy, the 1997 movie follows six unemployed who form a male striptease act. Starring Robert Carlyle, Tom Wilkinson, and Mark Addy, among others, the movie was a huge box-office success that also won an Academy Award for Best Original Score.
The brand-new series will pick up the protagonists’ misadventures 25 years after their “full monty” strip. In addition to Carlyle, Addy, and Wilkinson returning as Gaz, Dave, and Gerald, respectively, the cast includes Lesley Sharp as Jean, Hugo Speer as Guy, Paul Barber as Horse, Steve Huison as Lomper, and Wim Snape as Nathan.
“Twenty-five years later, we join our original band of Monty men and women in Sheffield for a funny and uplifting story of friendship and community triumphing over adversity. Gaz, Dave and our Northern heroes have settled into a new way of living. Gaz is navigating relationships and escapades with his grown-up police officer son, Nathan, and rebel-teenage daughter, Destiny. Dave and his wife, Jean, now work at the same school and are dealing with some big issues both in and out of the classroom.
