Humble ISD All-State music students recognized. Here’s what's involved in getting to state
Humble ISD honored 17 Texas Music Educators Association All-State selections at the school board meeting on Tuesday, April 11, 2023. Participation in one of the ensembles, band, choir, or orchestra, is compulsory and necessary to learn to perform with a group of musicians.The All-State Band members are Atascocita junior Jake Casillo , Humble senior Jordan Stairs and junior Andres Herrera and Summer Creek senior Jackson Bowman .
Some books change each year, while others select different etudes from the book which may have 20-30 in each. “I also have a group text of about 400 users through a band app I use regularly to reach everybody’s personal device with the etudes that were picked,” he said. “It’s a time when students really grow on their instruments and make their biggest advance,” he said.Students are not only juggling the beginning of school, but many of them also play in or participate in one of the organizations during football and marching contest season so their time is divided.
