Lowell, who previously worked for Donald Trump's son-in-law Jared Kushner, appeared on CNN's The Source with Kaitlan Collins Friday to share his reaction to David Weiss being appointed as a special counsel by Attorney General Merrick Garland earlier that day. Weiss led the investigation since 2019 based on allegations that resulted in a failed plea deal, but Lowell said he is waiting to see"should anything change.
Biden, according to his attorney, will readily accept responsibility"as the charges were filed before." Lowell committed to defending his client should any more charges come to light. "You have the former president trying to use Hunter Biden as a way to excuse his own conduct," Lowell said."And, at some point, that could pierce; the noise could actually be so noisy that it’d get in the way of the facts and the law. I am confident that a responsible prosecutor would not let that happen. And we’ll just have to wait and see."Lowell is a white-collar defense attorney of the international law firm Winston and Strawn.
It will be up to Weiss to write a report on whether to prosecute Biden or not. Biden recently had a plea deal fall apart and has since pleaded not guilty to both tax charges against him.
