The National Hurricane Center's latest 5 p.m. track continues to show the dangerous core of Hurricane Dorian approaching the coast of South Carolina Thursday morning near Charleston, and then traveling along the coast through the Carolinas through Friday
The Department of Defense will be closing the following schools in North Carolina and South Carolina ahead of Hurricane Dorian reaching the US:
Schools at Fort Bragg will be closed Thursday, Sept. 5 Schools are expected to reopen Friday, Sept. 6. Camp Lejeune Schools will be closed beginning Wednesday, Sept 4 to Friday, Sept 6. Only key and essential personnel will be permitted to access the base Thursday and Friday. Fort Stewart schools will be closed beginning Tuesday, Sept. 3 to Friday, Sept. 6. DoDEA authorizes evacuation for DoDEA personnel assigned to, working at, or living on Fort Stewart, Georgia , and their family members, whose residential quarters are located in an area identified for mandatory evacuation by civilian authorities.
Laurel Bay schools will be closed beginning Tuesday, Sept 3 until further notice. DoDEA employees working at, or living on Marine Corps Air Station Beaufort , and their family members, are authorized to evacuate in accordance with the evacuation order.
