Husband Honors 67th Anniversary Outside Wife’s Nursing Home Amid COVID-19
spent their anniversary together, even as they’ve grown older. This year, however, Bob was told he wouldn’t be able to visit Nancy at her nursing home for their 67—but the Connecticut man wasn’t going to let that stop him from showing his love.
To celebrate in the safest way he knew how, he showed up to Nancy’s window with a sign that read: “I’ve loved you 67 years and still do. Happy Anniversary.” He held it up to ensure Nancy could see it from her room, and she responded by waving and blowing kisses to her longtime husband. Connecticut Governor Ned Lamont restricted visitors from nursing homes for 30 days due to the high risk of complications“It makes me feel bad because I want her down with me and I know she can’t be,” Bob toldon Saturday. “I wouldn’t want anybody else. I don’t think she could put up with anybody else besides me.”
Due to coronavirus precaution, Bob Shellard isn't allowed to visit his wife in her Connecticut nursing home. So he stood outside her window and held up a sign that said"I've loved you 67 years and still do. Happy Anniversary."
